Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. We operate a private reference service and cannot pull or certify a file, confirm a person at an address, change a public record, or respond to an emergency. Contact the office that holds the record. For an emergency, call 911. If you are being stalked or harassed, contact law enforcement.
Finding a Specific Record
Use the official route that matches the record type. The pages below identify the source and its access limits:
- Address, parcel, or deed: use Streets for City assessment, map, County Clerk, and defined building-record paths.
- Historic directory entry or old household: use City Directory or Past Residents.
- One name and a narrow record question: use Resident Lookup and verify with the custodian.
- City records request: send a specific existing-record request to the responsible White Plains department under New York FOIL, Public Officers Law art. 6, §§84–90.
White Plains City Clerk: 255 Main Street, White Plains, NY 10601, 914-422-1227. The Clerk is the City records-management officer, archives manager, local vital registrar, and route for records within City custody. The City lists in-person vital-document service without appointment from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; confirm other counter hours with the Clerk. Use the City’s FOIL request instructions to direct a defined request to the department that holds the material.
Westchester County Clerk: 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., White Plains, NY 10601, 914-995-3080, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Land Records Division maintains the recorded-instrument route; City vital records and court file requests go to their own custodians. For court files, consult the court or the Clerk’s Legal Division rather than a general FOIL request.
